An elderly couple were found dead in mysterious circumstances at their home in Golconda on Saturday, police said. The bodies of K. Swamy (70) and wife K. Lingamma (65) were found by their son when he came down from his first floor room to collect tap water.

The couple were living on the ground floor of their house at Viratnagar. Their son Sudhama, who noticed smoke emanating from the room, broke open the door and found his parents dead, a police official said.

Police suspect plastic mat and other inflammable material in the room might have caught fire, choking the eld-erly couple to death. Golconda police registered a case and launched investigations.
