What is common between Flipkart, Vittanna, foodista and infibeam portals? If you thought they were all just online shopping portals, the audience at the Quizzotic quiz held at Osmania University came up with another answer, saying that they were all launched by ex-employees of Amazon portal.

This was not just the one. What are Tiger, Cheetah and Leopards? When most of us could end up answering them as wild cats, participants came up with a stunning answer - different types of Mac operating systems.

There were many such interesting yet informative questions that troubled the participants. Organised by the Erudite Students Club of the University College of Engineering, the event saw nearly 1,500 participants from various engineering colleges in the city.

After a written test, as many as 72 were shortlisted, and eventually five teams of two members each from two pools had to compete for the final slot.

The eight-round contest comprised written, audio, visual, google round and picture round. Apart from entertainment, the event was a techno-based quiz and helped students to keep abreast of the latest technologies and developments, said Ganesh, a participant.

This is the third edition of the annual contest. This year, the champions will get Rs. 6,000 as the first prize, followed by Rs. 5,000 and Rs. 4,000 for the first and second runners up, said Srinath, an organiser.

There were USB readers for the audience who came up with correct answers. Sainath Reddy and Anuj Deshpande from MVSR College of Engineering bagged the first prize and Deepank and Parikshit of the same college bagged the second prize.

The third prize was won by Ganesh Shashank and Tushara from the Osmania University College of Engineering.
