GHMC Commissioner M.T. Krishna Babu gave a week’s time to the Irrigation Department to submit their report regarding fixing of MFL (maximum flood level) of Musi to the three-member technical committee constituted by the Government.
At a meeting held on lake protection attended by Hyderabad Collector M.K. Meena, Ranga Reddy Joint Collector M.V. Reddy and Additional Commissioner (Planning) D. Roland Ross on Friday, he directed the irrigation officials to mark the boundaries of the Musi on paper based on the MFL.
The Revenue Divisional Officers (RDOs) concerned have to decide on the ownership of land based on the revenue records after marking the boundaries on ground by the Irrigation Dept. About 21 kilometres of the Musi passes through the GHMC limits covering some parts of both Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts and the civic body will take responsibility of construction of pillars for the entire stretch.
Proper coordination between different departments will yield speedy results in this regard, he observed, and also sought details from Hyderabad Collector about the strategy adopted to protect Government lands, which are beyond the MFL mark as well as private lands within the MFL.
Mr. Meena informed that they want to go beyond the three-day notice generally issued to private property owners under the WALTA Act considering that no construction activity should take place in a water body. And as per his enquiry, the ‘pattas’ issued earlier were ‘Raithvari Pattas’.
The Commissioner wanted encroachments of every 50 metres of the Musi to be videographed to prevent further encroachments. Mr. Ross was asked to attach assistant city planners concerned to eight tahsildars for the survey and enumeration of the encroachments. Possession certificates of Mallapur and Bandlaguda housing colonies will be issued to the displaced encroachers along with relocation allowance.
