27-year-old Dayakar was also involved in murder and attempt to murder cases
A murder-accused was arrested by the Cyberabad police on Tuesday on charges of stealing laptops from different bachelors’ rooms in the city.
Ten laptops worth over Rs. 3.50 lakh were recovered from the accused D. Dayakar (27), a farmer and native of Warangal district.
Police said Dayakar used to enter rooms when occupants usually kept their doors open in the early hours and steal laptops kept on tables when the occupants were asleep.
Adopting this modus operandi, he had stolen laptops at Balanagar, Jeedimetla and Pet Basheerabad, the police said.
Police nabbed him while he was trying to sell the stolen laptops at Balanagar crossroads.
Dayakar was also involved in a murder and an attempt to murder case reported in Warangal district.
Two Pardhi gang members held
In a separate case, two members of a Pardhi gang were nabbed by the Medchal police for their involvement in two dacoities and a house burglary. The arrested have been identified as Ramulu Poppat Mahadhu (50), an agricultural labourer and Raos Saheb Shanker Rathod (30), a driver. They hail from Maharashtra.
With the help of their gang leader Balya, Ramulu, Shankar, Chatri and Shaik Saleem came to Medchal in a van on September 13 and committed two dacoities and a house burglary.
The police, however, managed to nab Saleem on the same day. On Monday evening, the police were checking vehicles at Kistapur Road in Medchal when Shankar did not stop the van.
Police chased the vehicle and apprehended Ramulu and Shankar. A hunt is on to trace Balya and Chatri.
