HYDERABAD: The investigation into the mysterious disappearance of a vegetable vendor of Humayunnagar a fortnight ago has led to the discovery he was murdered in cold-blood allegedly by his wife and her paramour.
Farhana (30) and paramour Jahangir (28), who is husband of Farhana’s younger sister, have been arrested by the police.
Based on their confession, the body of Khaja (40), buried in a trench, was exhumed in Kandukur in neighbouring Ranga Reddy district, 40 km from here, on Saturday. Khaja was throttled to death by the accused duo. Farhana developed an illicit relationship with Jahangir, a mason, Commissioner’s Task Force (South) Inspector K.V. Surya Prakash said. Khaja learnt about it and warned his wife to sever ties with Jahangir.
“But, they continued to meet and decided to eliminate Khaja coming in their way,” the Inspector said. On May 20, Farhana told her husband that her hands were aching frequently and that she heard about a ‘miracle baba’ in Kandukur who can cure such ailments.
She convinced Khaja to call Jahangir and the trio set out on a bike. She asked Khaja to stop the bike at an isolated place on the Hyderabad-Mahabubnagar highway where Jahangir pounced on Khaja and throttled him to death. The duo dumped the body in a roadside trench and levelled it with mud.
Two days later, she lodged a complaint with the Humayunnagar police, hinting at the involvement of Jahangir, who was already tipped off by her, to create an alibi and mislead the police. However, during grilling, the woman and Jahangir confessed to the killing.
Farhana and Khaja of First Lancer near Mehdipatnam were married 15 years ago and have three children.
