Ten days after the deadly terror attack at the ever bustling Dilsukhnagar area here, investigation is at crossroads even as multiple agencies working on the case are tracking their specific leads.

The lines of investigation of the NIA and the police of Hyderabad and Cyberabad are different from one another. All of them are taking into consideration points like bomb signature being common at Pune and Mumbai terror attacks earlier and pointing towards the banned Indian Mujahideen.

Yet, they are cautious in attributing the attacks to a specific organisation, be it pan-Islamic fundamentalist groups or right wing terror outfits like Abhinav Bharat. The Hyderabad police, a comparatively larger police unit with more special units and seasoned officials, are verifying all possibilities. “The IM and right wing groups are on our radar. But we don’t want to ignore possible complicity of earlier terrorist modules based in Hyderabad,” a police officer said. He cited the example of a youngster from Hyderabad, whose elder brother was accused of some terror plots and was eventually killed abroad.

“That person is abroad now. Since we earlier suspected that he had links with some groups, probe is on to ascertain such angles,” the investigators said.

Sources in Cyberabad police maintain that they are tracking a different angle of suspects in earlier terror cases — irrespective of charges being proved against them — joining hands with others to target Hyderabad. “Some may differ with our line of probe, but nothing can be ruled out in the backdrop of vague clues available in the case,” they say.

The NIA authorities believe the Dilsukhnagar twin blasts have some connection to the IM. They are grilling alleged IM operatives, Syed Maqbool and Imran Khan, whom they brought from Tihar jail to the city two days ago. They are verifying activities of the acquaintances of the duo vis-à-vis the terror attack on the conjecture that some locals helped carry out the blasts.
