The Government proposes to construct multi-level flyovers and skyways to ease traffic at major junctions after undertaking a survey soon, said Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Friday.

Some of the areas that might see the proposed constructions include Khairatabad, Banjara Hills, Abids, Koti and Kukatpally that see massive traffic throughout the day and more so during the peak hours.

At the high-level review meeting held at the National Academy of Construction attended by top government officials, the Chief Minister discussed on coming up with future plans keeping in mind the traffic density for the next 20 years.

Road widening

Mr. Rao also deliberated on the option of road widening at major junctions and also the costs associated with it. He also instructed the officials to take immediate measures at busy stretches so that no inconvenience is caused to commuters.

During the meeting, he also stressed on the need to protect the environment. He said that there is about 1.6 lakh acres of forest land available in and around Hyderabad and focus should be on to conserve and beautify them.

He felt that the city is fortunate to have such lung space and asked people to take the initative of protecting them as well as parks.

He further said that the government will be intolerant towards land grabbers. Referring to the residents successfully stalling the take over of Botanical Gardens for commercial purpose, he informed that citizens committees will be formed soon.

He said that government will provide separate space for walkers, joggers and cyclists. He said that he will undertake an aerial survey very soon to identify vacant lands to be put to constructive use.

He said that flyovers will be constructed in Warangal along with road widening of the highway connecting Madikonda and Hanamkonda in the district.
