It was not even a year since the surrender of the Serilingampally MRO by the then Collector V.Seshadri, another MRO of the Deputy Collector rank, this time from Qutbullahpur, surrendered to the government.
Collector A.Vani Prasad had written to the government surrendering the services of Tahsildar Venkateshwarlu, who allegedly acted in contravention of government rules in a case pertaining to illegal allotment of housing pattas in Nizampet village worth crores of rupees.
According to details, three acres of assigned land in the survey number 233/19 in Nizampet, was taken back from the assignees for allotment to 376 identified beneficiaries in 2007. This allotment was in contravention of the existing ban on issue of housing pattas within the ORR limits.
Disputing this, the assignees approached the Revenue Minister, who issued a stay against the allotment. Meanwhile, a few beneficiaries approached the High Court seeking possession of the housing sites or allotment elsewhere.
When the court sought a counter , the MRO gave an undertaking that the identified beneficiaries would be given sites in 13 acres of land in the survey Nos. 82, 83, 84, 85 and 334.
He never shared this information with the Collector. He also appealed to the court for issue of orders towards the said allotment, which were duly issued. Subsequently, Venkateshwarlu issued housing pattas to 465 persons in the said survey numbers last year. According to sources, constructions came up on the sites now making it difficult for the government to cancel the allotments.
When the matter came to light recently, the Collector ordered an enquiry into it.
