MRO suspended for arbitrary land allotment

June 02, 2013 12:02 am | Updated November 16, 2021 10:16 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

Ranga Reddy District Collector A. Vani Prasad on Saturday issued orders suspending the Tahsildar of Maheshwaram mandal, over controversial allotment of land for a private organisation.

According to the details, the government had issued an order in 2009 allotting 10 acres of land in survey number 289 of Kongara Kurdu village of Maheshwaram mandal to the M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation, for a payment of Rs. 2 lakh per acre.

However, the then MRO informed the Collector that the land allotted had been assigned to farmers, and assignees were objecting to hand it over.

Alternatively, he suggested another piece of vacant land from the same survey number for allotment to the foundation. Accordingly, a report was prepared and sent to the government by the district Collector.

However, even while the matter was pending with the government, the present Tahsildar M.V. Ramana acted on her own, and had given possession of the earlier piece of land to the foundation, in July last year.

After reviewing the matter, the Collector issued orders for her suspension.
