The works recommended by the Members of Parliament under the MP Local Area Development Scheme should be completed within the stipulated time by the Districts Collectors, said Chief Secretary S.P. Singh here on Tuesday.
Each MP is sanctioned ₹5 crore a year in two instalments and of this 15 per cent of funds be spent for SC habitations and 7.5 per cent of funds on ST habitations as per the Central Government instructions.
The MPLADS State-level monitoring committee met at the Secretariat and was attended by MPs Bandaru Dattatreya, K. Keshava Rao, Jitendar Reddy, Gutha Sukhendar Reddy, K.Visweshwar Reddy, Capt. Lakshmikanta Rao, Malla Reddy besides Planning and other department officials. They suggested that District Collectors should personally review the progress of the works in their districts and ensure they were completed within the stipulated one year period.
The sanctioning process for works in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation should be simplified. Priority should be given for sanction of works under the employment guarantee scheme, they said.
Mr.Singh said the MPLADS would be reviewed specially in the video conference with the District Collectors. Instructions would be given to the Collectors to review the progress of each work sanctioned under the scheme.
