The concept of jurisdiction-free registration of immovable property has been introduced in the city on Friday. Following the Registration and Stamps Department’s decision to migrate its application software from distributed to central architecture, the facility of “anywhere registration” came into being within Hyderabad Registration District and Hyderabad Registration District (South). The necessary infrastructure, connectivity and access have been put in place and the staff hope that the usage would pick up once the concept gets popularised among the public.
On Day 1, it emerged clear that the new idea could take a few more days to make an impression among the people. Very few visitors to the Sanjeev Reddy Nagar sub-registrar office appeared to be aware of the facility. “Is it so? I did not know about the facility,” said Turab Hassan, who came to enquire about documents needed for registration.
An official said that glitches, if any, could be overcome once people start using the facility. “There could be some teething problems,” he said.
While the Hyderabad Registration District covers four offices, the latter comprise five offices and registrations in sub-registrar offices within their individual jurisdiction are allowed. “All required details, including market values and prohibitory data, can be accessed online from different sub-registrar offices. We are now in a position to offer transactions without reference to jurisdiction,” said G. Sthita Prajna, Sub-Registrar, S.R. Nagar.
