Motorcyclist hits Metro barricade, dies

A carpenter died after the bike he was riding rammed a steel barricade put up for the ongoing construction work of Metro Rail at Malakpet on Monday.

Thirty-eight-year-old Gottimukkala Shivaji Chary was going from Dilsukhnagar to Malakpet when the accident occurred after 4 p.m. “He moved past Gaddiannaram traffic junction and hit a roadside barricade,” the Malakpet Sub-Inspector Narsimha Murthy said.

Death was instant for Chary who was not wearing a helmet and suffered serious head injury. He apparently tried to control the bike by slamming on the brake, which broke into two parts, the SI said. A case of rash and negligent act resulting in death was registered.

The victim is a resident of Amberpet.

Accident victim dies

A mobile phone technician, who suffered grievous injuries after the motorcycle he was riding skidded after falling in a pothole at Saroornagar on Sunday, died while undergoing treatment at the Osmania General Hospital (OGH) on Monday.

Police said the deceased Jaffar (20) of Bhagathsingh Nagar in Saroornagar was going on some work along with his friend Saidulu when the accident occurred. Jaffar received serious injuries, while his friend Saidulu escaped with minor injuries. Police rushed them to OGH where Jaffar succumbed to injuries on Monday.
