Sudden downpour lashed the city yet again on Monday evening, causing water-logging on many roads. Rainfall recorded was 2.1 cm rainfall till 8.30 p.m. and the Met authorities forecast the climate to be cloudy and chances of more showers on Tuesday.

Motorists had tough times driving through knee-deep water accumulated on the main thoroughfares during the rain. It was a close shave for road users near General Post Office at Abids as a few tree branches collapsed. None were injured in the incident, the police said. Complaints of water-logging poured in from Chaderghat, Afzalgunj, Mozamjahi Market, Koti and Basheerbagh and other areas.

Such was the impact of water-logging that GHMC Commissioner M.T. Krishna Babu personally monitored clearing of water at Mythirvanam, Ameerpet to clear the road for traffic.

Reports of vehicles getting stuck in rain water also came in from Abids, Basheerbagh and other areas. Rains aftermath resulted in traffic jams as vehicles moved at snail’s pace on different stretches.
