More rain forecast

Several parts of the city received light to moderate rain on Monday, after a dry spell that lasted more than a week.

Golconda recorded the maximum rainfall of 2.3 cm, followed by Trimulgherry where 1.1 cm was recorded. According to India Meteorological Department, two weather systems, in Chattisgarh and Karnataka respectively, were bringing rain to the State. More rain was expected over the next 72 hours.

“These systems will bring widespread rain in the State. Some thunderstorm activity with lightning is also expected,” said Y.K. Reddy, Director-in-Charge at IMD Hyderabad.

A few parts of the State received heavy rain. In Ghatkesar, the area around Singapur Township received over 11 cm of rain. Kothegudem, Mahabudabad, Yadadri and Jangaon were other districts that recorded heavy rain. In Hyderabad, the rain also caused traffic slowdown late in the afternoon with water accumulation on the roads.
