The South-West monsoon advanced further into Telangana and Coastal Andhra on Tuesday after fully covering Rayalaseema and turned “vigorous”, aided by a trough in the atmosphere.

Several places in Telangana received heavy rain with Chevella in Ranga Reddy district recording 9 cm, Navipet 8 cm, Mednoor 7 cm, Armoor, Madhira, Hyderabad 5 cm each, Rudrur 4 cm and Nalgonda 3 cm.

The monsoon is expected to cover Hyderabad anytime now against the normal time of around June 10.

In Rayalaseema, Tirumala received 3 cm rainfall for the second consecutive day while Perumallapalli recorded 6 cm. Rainfall in Coastal Andhra region ranged up to 3 cm each at many places.

The districts of Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Adilabad, Warangal, Khammam, East Godavari, West Godavari, Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam are likely to get heavy rains on Wednesday, according to warning issued by India Meteorological Department.
