According to Y.K. Reddy, India Meteorological Department Hyderabad centre’s Director-in-charge, scattered rainfall is expected on Sunday and Monday, which will subsequently increase.
“The monsoon has been activated again. These rains are not due to weather systems though a few are expected to develop in the Bay of Bengal,” he said adding that the average rainfall next will be above normal.
On Saturday few parts of the city received light rainfall.
Asif Nagar received 3.3 cm, the maximum recorded in GHMC limits.
The maximum rainfall for the state, 4.3 cm, was recorded in Mamidala in Nalgonda.
Most parts of the State have received deficient rainfall this monsoon. The State’s average rainfall actual rainfall received since June 1 till August 9 stands at 37.4 cm against a normal of 43.6 cm. Khammam, which recorded the highest amount of rain this year as on date, and Hyderabad, have thus far recorded above normal rainfall. Before the start of the season, IMD had predicted above normal rainfall for the country this year during monsoon season.
