Minister for Energy and SC Development G. Jagadish Reddy on Friday said a trial run of the Imampeta water treatment plant under the Mission Bhagiratha scheme would be conducted by May 5.

“Drinking water connection to every house would be ensured by the end of 2018,” he said.

He said most of the work would be finished well in advance of the 2018 year-end deadline.

Mr. Reddy, along with District Collector K. Surendra Mohan, inspected the work at Imampeta here on Friday.

Review meeting

On the ongoing work, Mr. Reddy said several teams are being formed to inspect gaps in the completed line. He wanted officials to ensure that the work is completed by April 30.

Mr. Surendra Mohan reviewed the situation later, instructing officials to expedite land acquisition process wherever needed.

Advises caution

He also wanted pending works in construction of overhead tanks and intra-village pipelines in Kodad and Huzurnagar in the district.

He cautioned officials of the municipality to ensure that the town roads are not damaged while the pipeline work is in progress.

As the pipeline would also run along several km of National Highway-65, the work should be executed carefully, Mr. Surendra Mohan told officials.
