A 15-year-old boy, Kiran Kumar of Karmanghat in Saroornagar, who was beaten up by two minors over a petty matter four days ago, died on Saturday while undergoing treatment in a hospital.

The Saroornagar police had altered the section of law from assault to murder following the boy’s death and launched a hunt for the accused Srinivas and Venu who are absconding. Kumar used to work as labourer for daily wage.

“On Tuesday night, his family members found him lying unconscious outside a house in Karmanghat. They claimed that during inquiries it was revealed that Srinivas and Venu thrashed him on a petty matter,” Saroornagar Sub-Inspector A. Anjaneyulu said.

The boy was shifted to hospital immediately and a case of assault was registered against the duo.

Mild tension prevailed at Karmanghat on Saturday night as friends, relatives and family members of the victim gathered and tried to attack the houses of the accused. Police rushed to the spot and dispersed them.
