The 15-year-old was reportedly chided by relatives for returning home from her husband's house

A 15-year-old girl N. Nandeshwari, whose marriage was performed by her relatives against her wishes three months ago, ended her life by setting herself ablaze at Rajendranagar.

The girl used to live with her grandparents at Kismat-hpur in Rajendranagar after her father’s death.

One of her relatives, Aandalu, fixed an alliance and got the teenager married to a private employee, Krishna.

Nandeshwari was reportedly depressed as the marriage was performed against her wishes and returned to the house of her grandparents.

Her relatives and family members, however, wanted her to go back to her husband and allegedly admonished her over the matter, police said.

On Saturday, she doused herself in kerosene and set herself afire. She was rushed to the Osmania General Hospital where she succum-bed to burns while undergoing treatment on Sunday.

A case under Prohibition of Child Marriage Act and Section 306 (abetment to suicide) of Indian Penal Code was registered.
