Milkha Singh to flag off 10K run

The 12 edition of the Hyderabad 10 K Run will be flagged off by the legendary athlete Milkha Singh, who is also the Brand Ambassador, at People’s Plaza on November 30 at 6.30 a.m., according to Uma Chigurupati, chairperson Hyderabad 10K Foundation.

About 13,000 participants have already registered even as the process ends on November 26 and the kits can be collected on November 29.  Those interested can visit www.

In his message to the participants, Milkha Singh said he was glad to know about the huge response to the runs over the years and appealed to the Hyderabadis to ensure record participation. “I will be there and join me in making it a huge success,” he added.

Uma Chigurupati said that all arrangements for participants-friendly atmosphere would be in place. “As always United Way of Hyderabad will raise -funds for charity programmes. The total prize money is Rs. 30 lakh,” she said. Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Jitender said that necessary traffic diversions would be made for a hassle-free run on the day.

“We assure the organisers complete support even as we expect the participants and the spectators to follow the rules. Film star Regina Cassandra recalled her experience of taking part in the run last year.

“It is important to be healthy and to enjoy in these runs. I wish Hyderabadis will respond in a big way even as I plan to run again,” she said. The organisers also felicitated the newly-crowned China Open badminton champion Kidambi Srikanth.
