Meat storage facility attacked at Jalpally

September 15, 2014 01:45 am | Updated 01:45 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Tension prevailed for a while at Jalpally in Pahadishareef on Sunday afternoon when a group of people led by local BJP leaders raided a meat storage facility and ransacked it.

The agitators charged the management with dumping animal waste at open places, polluting the area. They said local residents and animals were being affected due to the constant foul smell emanating from the dump.

Raising slogans, the group entered the premises and damaged a few vehicles and equipment. On receipt of information, the Pahadishareef police rushed to the spot and dispersed the agitators. A few were taken into custody.

When contacted, Pahadishareef Inspector P. Venkateshwarlu said, “We are verifying the licences and relevant records of the company to find out if anything is being done illegally.” A case had been registered against those who resorted to violence.
