An MBA student, who was sleeping atop an overhead water tank of a five-storey building after returning from a party, died after slipping from the tank, in Tarnaka on Friday.

Mohak Agarwal, 23, was asleep on the water tank along with two of his friends. “Around 6 a.m., the watchman of the apartment heard a loud sound and rushed out only to see Mohak lying in a pool of blood on the ground floor,” Osmania University police station Inspector Ashok Reddy said.

The watchman rushed onto the terrace. Initially, he did not see anybody there. A little later, he saw Mohak’s friends sleeping on the water tank located on the edge of the building.

“The other two were still asleep when the watchman arrived. He woke them up. They came down and identified the victim as Mohak,” the Inspector said. Mohak, who hailed from Raebareli of Uttar Pradesh, was pursuing his MBA in Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies here.

Along with 11 of his friends, the student went to a party in Jubilee Hills on Thursday night. The police maintained that Mohak and two of his friends returned to Flat no. 301 in the building in the early hours of Friday.

“We understand that the three youngsters chose to sleep outside due to the hot temperature in the flat and went up the water tank,” the police said. A case under Section 174 of Criminal Procedure Code was registered.
