Mayor's resignation accepted

At a special meeting convened on Saturday, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) accepted the resignation of Mayor, B.Karthika Reddy.

For the formal acceptance of the resignation, the specially convened council meeting was attended by all the corporators and floor leaders of different parties. While the Congress, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) floor leaders accepted the resignation, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) floor leader rejected it. The acceptance was preceded by the Mayor listing out achievements during her tenure.

Yesterday, the Deputy Mayor, Jaffer Hussain of the MIM, had submitted his resignation.
