A mason K. Yadagiri beat his teenaged brother-in-law to death in an inebriated state before hanging himself to death in his house at Balajinagar of Alwal, police said.

Yadagiri was frustrated over his in-laws not sending his wife Navaneetha to his house and murdered his brother-in-law A. Srikanth, 17, apparently after a tiff with the latter, Alwal Inspector S.V. Hari Krishna said. The mason got married two years ago.

His wife conceived five months ago and went to her parents’ house in A.S. Rao Nagar. The mason insisted that his wife stay with him.

“A few days ago, she came back to her husband’s house but returned to her parents’ house after a day. The mason was enraged over this,” the Inspector said.

He went to the house of his in-laws on Friday night and returned home along with Srikanth.

After consuming liquor till late in the night, he quarrelled with Srikanth. According to police, the crime scene suggested they fought and that the mason beat the teenager to death by hitting on his head with a steel rod before committing suicide.
