Maqbul’s visit to Nellore jail triggers speculation

February 24, 2013 04:15 am | Updated 04:15 am IST - NELLORE:

A visitor named Maqbul had called on a high security prisoner, Feroz Khan, at the Central Jail here on January 4 last year. This has led to wide speculation that the visit was actually made by the terrorist, Maqbul, presently imprisoned at Tihar jail in New Delhi.

As per the jail records, Feroz Khan, a resident of Nizamabad, was serving a life sentence in a murder case. Feroz and another prisoner, Abid Hussain alias Ali Khan, who was convicted in kidnap and arms running cases, were brought to Nellore jail after the incident of attack by inmates on the staff of Cherlapalli Central Jail in 2011.

Nellore Central Jail superintendent M.R. Ravi Kiran said that as per their records, one man named Maqbul visited Feroz Khan only in 2012. Maqbul did not speak to any other prisoner during that visit, he added.
