The visitor who called on a high-security prisoner at the Central Jail here on January 4 last year is suspected to be the Indian Mujahideen operative Sd. Maqbul.
During his visit, Maqbul gave his voter card as ID proof for the ‘mulakat’ with prisoner Feroz Khan. The feature is mandatory to meet a high-security prisoner.
Maqbul was stated to have given his address as 16-1-24/c, Fateh Colony, Syedabad, Malakpet, Hyderabad. He came along with Feroz Khan’s brother Abdul Khan. Investigating agencies have come to a conclusion that Maqbul has links with the ISI and terrorists.
After the Hyderabad twin blasts, officials have begun suspecting Maqbul’s role with the focus shifting to the nature of his links to the two high-security prisoners at Nellore Jail – Feroz Khan and Abed Hussain alias Ali Bhai. Two days after the twin blasts, officials of the Central Counter-Intelligence Agency are said to have visited the jail to dig up information about the two prisoners.
