Anjanabai, mother of the 37-year-old Maoist, Dasarwad Sumanbai alias Sangithakka, from remote Dedra village in Bazarhatnoor mandal in Adilabad district on Tuesday made a fervent appeal to her daughter to surrender herself to Adilabad police without any fear. She said the government would facilitate her joining the mainstream without prejudice.

At the age of 18 years, Sumanbai bid adieu to her family and joined the underground movement. Carrying a reward of ₹5 lakh on her head, she is now active in Chhattisgarh as a member of the Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee of the Maoists. Anjanabai received much attention in her village during the day when Adilabad SP Vishnu S. Warrier went calling on her. He asked about her well-being and assured her that the government would take care of all the needs possible of the family.The SP also handed her clothes for her and her family members, besides rations. He said police would facilitate health and medicare for her family.

He interacted with villagers of this remote habitation on the inter-State border with Maharashtra which is about 16 km from Ichoda mandal head quarter. He opened a RO water purification plant in the village besides handing over uniforms to 26 school students.

Meanwhile, Boath Circle Police also conducted a medical camp at Bhutai village in the same mandal which had villagers from 12 habitations getting check ups. The police also gave spects to about 200 patients with eye sight defects. Adilabad DSP K. Narasimha Reddy, Boath CI G. Jayaram Naik and Bazarhatnoor SI Md. Mobin were also present.
