A man who was missing from home for two days was found dead under mysterious circumstances at Osmania General Hospital on Wednesday.

The news of the man’s death came to light after his family protested against the management at the hospital on Thursday. According to the family, the man, C. Tirupathi Rao, had a history of seizures but had recently brought a car to eke out a living as a cab driver. On Monday, he was found unconscious by a constable in Dilsukhnagar and was brought to the hospital.

After he regained consciousness the next morning, the hospital staff said he walked away from the ward when they were pre-occupied. His family had approached the Afzalgunj police station, a stone’s throw away from the hospital just an hour before the body was found on Wednesday.

The family’s protest has brought to fore staff crunch and the need for additional security cameras on the hospital’s premises.
