Man throws nephew in Hussainsagar

A man kidnapped his brother’s five-year-old son from his home and threw him into the waters of Hussainsagar from Tank Bund on Saturday.

Passers-by rescued the boy Dhanush while his uncle Sanjay fled. The accused, however, was picked up by Jagadgirigutta police late in the night.

Reasons as to why Sanjay, who was being interrogated, abducted the boy and tried to kill him are not yet known. “Sanjay was walking on the Tank Bund along with the boy. He suddenly took the boy in his arms and threw him into the water,” Ramgopalpet Inspector P. Murali Krishna said.

A passer-by Aloknath jumped into the water on hearing the screams of the boy. Meanwhile, Lake police team also reached there. Using a rope, the man brought the boy out safely.

Apparently traumatised by his uncle’s action, the boy could not explain what had happened initially. The boy told that his parents were Mahesh and Subhadra from Jagadgirigutta. Police initially tried to identify the boy collecting his fingerprints and matching that with the Aadhaar card data.

Finally, they traced his parents to Jagadgirigutta and leant that it was the boy’s uncle Sanjay who tried to kill him. Dhanush was handed over to his parents through Jagadgirgutta police.
