Man stabbed to death

A feud over a trivial issue between two groups of the same community led to the murder of one Mohammed Anwar in front of the railway station here late on Tuesday.

In a fit of anger, Anwar’s friend Akbar allegedly stabbed him thrice in the stomach. After being shifted to a private hospital, Anwar (34) was declared dead by doctors.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Prasanna Rani the deceased and the accused Amjad, Mansoor, Maulu and Azeem were friends and fought over a trivial issue recently. On Tuesday at around 11 p.m. Anwar and the four accused gathered at a tea stall in front of the railway station.

Sensing trouble Azeem summoned Akbar and the latter immediately on reaching allegedly began stabbing Anwar. The victim sustained injuries to his liver leading to death, said the police officer.

A couple of accused were taken into custody and the rest are on the run. The victim is survived by wife and a daughter. The body was handed over to the relatives. The town police registered a case of murder under Section 302 of I.P.C. and are investigating.

Ms. Prasanna Rani said that the situation in the town was perfectly under control.
