A 30 year-old-man was stabbed with a sharp object by a group of miscreants at Mussalam Jung bridge when he reportedly foiled their attempt to misbehave with his pregnant wife.

The police said that Ramakrishna, a tailor from Achampet in Mahboobnagar district, came to the city along with his wife five days ago. The woman is pregnant and is taking treatment at the Government Modern Maternity Hospital at Petlaburj. The couple are staying on the hospital premises.

On Sunday night, the couple went to the river bed to answer nature’s call when Ramakrishna noticed a group of persons going in the same direction. The man waylaid the miscreants to stop them from going further after which one of them attacked him with a sharp object, Shahinyathgunj SI Shanker said.

The couple immediately fled the place and approached a few persons near the City College who in turn informed the police. They were later shifted to Osmania General Hospital for treatment. The police registered a case under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of IPC against the miscreants and are making efforts to nab them.

Revelry turns tragic

Holi revelry turned tragic for a family after their 12-year-old son travelling in auto-trolley died when the vehicle overturned at Aramgarh on Monday afternoon. A few other children escaped with minor injuries.

According to the police, the boy, G. Shiva Kumar, of Mohanreddynagar in Mylardevpally, was going to a lake along with his friends after playing Holi. However, as the auto-trolley reached Shivrampally the driver lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a curve and overturned, police said.

Shiva sustained serious injuries in the accident and was rushed to a hospital where he was declared brought dead.

Girl found dead

A five-year-old girl, A. Kirtana, who went missing five days ago, was found dead in an open compound at Katedan on Monday morning, the police said.

The girl was playing in front of her house at Tatanagar in Mylardevpally when she went missing and a case was registered at Mylardevpally police station. The parents of the girl, Parmeshwar and Bhavita, who hail from Bihar, are daily wagers.

On Monday morning, her family members found her decomposed body lying in an open compound near their house and alerted the police who shifted it to OGH mortuary for post mortem. The family members suspect that the girl could have been killed by some persons with whom they had previous enmity.

“We are investigating the case from all possible angles and will alter the sections of the case depending on the outcome,” said Mylardevpally SI Venkatesham.
