Man set afire by wife dies

A stone-cutter Yelliah, 28, who was set ablaze by his wife at Mailardevpally five days ago died while undergoing treatment at Osmania General Hospital on Sunday night, the police said. The man was married to Alivelu 10 years ago and they had two children. On Wednesday, the couple quarrelled over a trivial issue, after which the woman allegedly doused Yelliah with kerosene and set him on fire. He suffered severe burns and was rushed to Osmania General Hospital for treatment, where he died on Sunday.

The police registered a case under Section 302 (murder) against Alivelu.

Two commit suicide

K. Kiran Kumar, 32, an electrician from Bagh Amberpet hanged himself to death at his shop on Sunday night, police said. The family members of the man told the police that he slipped into depression over his failing health and might have resorted to the extreme step.

In a separate incident M. Veerendar, 42, a car driver committed suicide by setting himself on fire at his house, police said. The man took the extreme step due to domestic issues a week ago, his family members told the police. He was rushed to Osmania General Hospital for treatment where he succumbed to his burns in the early hours of Monday.
