A 26-year-old man climbed an advertising hoarding at Koti on Thursday and threatened to jump to his death, keeping the police and passers-by on tenterhooks for nearly two hours.

Narsing Rao of Addagutta in Secunderabad scaled a hoarding located on the premises of the Government College for Women at around 6 p.m. He raised pro-Telangana slogans, urging the government to provide him a job and threatening to end his life if his demand was not complied with, Sultanbazar ACP G. Someshwara Rao said.

Rao ignored pleas of policemen and passers-by to climb down and stayed put for two hours. He finally descended, only to be taken into custody by the police.
