A car driver murdered his wife by slitting her throat in Bowenpally before stabbing to death his cousin at Begumpet on Saturday, accusing them of having an illicit relationship, police said.
Forty-year-old Ragesh living at Shivalaya street in Tadbun later walked into the Bowenpally police station carrying the blood-stained knife, admitting to the double murder. Ragesh got married to Jayalaxmi of Borabanda.
“Ragesh maintains that his wife developed extra-marital relationship with his cousin T. Narender, also a car driver living in Patigadda of Begumpet,” Bowenpally Inspector N. Sudhir said.
On learning this, he reportedly counselled and warned his wife to mend her ways. The accused told interrogators that despite his warning she continued to meet Narender. A month ago, his wife went to the house of her mother and was residing there. “I wanted to take revenge and decided to eliminate both of them,” he was quoted by the police.
Around 5 a.m., Ragesh started on his scooter for his in-laws’ house in Borabanda. He told his wife to come along with him to sort out the differences. On reaching an isolated place near a roadside temple close to his house, he attacked her with a knife and slit her throat. He then rode straight to Narender’s house in Patigadda. He walked inside and stabbed Narender sleeping on a cot and later surrendered to the police.
