A former employee of the Income Tax Department was arrested by the city police for allegedly sending threatening emails to his first wife. He works as a lower division clerk in the I-T Department.

The arrested person, M. Santosh Kumar Naidu, 51, who was convicted for siphoning off funds of a nationalised bank to the tune of Rs. 4 lakh, had divorced his first wife.

He then posted his profile on a matrimonial website by suppressing facts.

He claimed that he was unmarried and was working as an engineer in the United Kingdom, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Detective Department) Mohammed Zafer Javid told reporters here on Sunday.

A woman from Jaipur contacted him and married him, but he later started harassing her after which she filed a petition in court seeking divorce.

Suspecting that his first wife might have informed his second wife about his past, Naidu bore a grudge against her and started sending her threatening emails.

Based on her complaint, the police registered a case against Naidu and arrested him.
