Man drowns ailing son in water tank

A man drowned his three-year-old son ailing from kidney problems as he was unable to meet the boy’s medical expenses, in a water tank at Hayathnagar on Wednesday.

Srisailam (35), a shepherd from Tarmathipet in Hayathnagar mandal was married to Swapna four years ago.

Their only son B. Mallesh was suffering from congenital kidney problems and was taken to various doctors for treatment.

The couple had also spent a considerable amount of money on the boy’s treatment. On Wednesday morning when the boy was crying, Srisailam threw him into the overhead water tank of his house, Hayathnagar police station Inspector G. Srinivas Kumar, said. Later, Srisailam informed his wife, who along with the neighbours retrieved the boy from the tank. The boy was shifted to a hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead.

Case registered

The police registered a case under section 302 (murder) against Srisailam.
