Annam Gangadhar (40) and his daughter Soundarya (18) of Renjal mandal headquarters died of snake bite in the wee hours of Tuesday. They were bitten by a snake after having their dinner last night at their home. While Gangadhar complained of pain under his neck, Soundarya, a first-year college student, felt the pain on her ear, according to Sub-Inspector of Police, G. Naresh.

Immediately the two were shifted to the district headquarters hospital where they were declared brought dead.

Elsewhere, at least, half a dozen persons were reported to have died of snake bites across the district since the onset of monsoon season this year. A third standard student Chakali Srinivas was one among them who died of snake bite at his school at Rudrur village a few days ago. Most of the deaths happened when the victims were asleep.
