Man commits suicide near police station

A 40-year-old man, who is reportedly wanted in connection with a property offence case under the Julurupadu police station limits, allegedly committed suicide in front of the camp office of the Superintendent of Police in Khammam town on Wednesday.

Sources said that G Venkateshwarlu, a native of Papakollu in Julurupadu mandal, allegedly consumed pesticide along with his wife near the SP camp office in the afternoon. He died while being shifted to a hospital. His wife is battling for life at a town based hospital. The relatives of the deceased alleged that the latter took the extreme step unable to bear alleged harassment by the police in his native mandal. However, the police officials concerned rebutted the charges.
