The main Eid-ul-Fitr prayers marking the end of Ramzan will be held at Mecca Masjid at 10 a.m. on Thursday. The other big congregation prayers on the day will be held at Eidgah Mir Alam at 9.30 a.m. and at 9.45 a.m. at Eidgah Qutb Shah near Golconda fort.

The Ruyet-e-Hilal committee had announced on Tuesday that Eid will be celebrated on Thursday as the moon was not sighted in the city. While many parts of the world, including Saudi Arabia, celebrated Eid on Wednesday, Hyderabad will celebrate it on Thursday.

“We have made arrangements to supply additional 4 lakh litres of milk to the city on the occasion. We have created 27 tanker points mostly in the old city for supplying milk, both loose as well as in pouches,” said a marketing official of milk cooperative Vijaya Dairy. “The total supply will reach 7.5 lakh litres as well as 1.5 lakh in cartons. Besides, we are prepared to rush milk tankers wherever there is more demand. There will be no shortage,” assured the official. Milk is one of the key ingredients for the traditional sheer khorma dish.

Traffic curbs

The Hyderabad police have notified traffic curbs near Mir Alam Tank Eidgah between 8 a.m. and 11.30 a.m. to ensure there are no traffic snarls.
