Magician gets Merlin Award

A popular magician from the City of Pearls, Samala Venu, has become the only Indian magician to hold 2 Merlin awards. He was presented the Merlin Award for the Best Illusionist of 2015 at a function here on Thursday.

Earlier Merlin awardees include David Copperfield, P.C. Sorcar, Siegfried & Roy, Penn & Teller and Criss Angel. Mr. Venu was awarded the Merlin Award for Outstanding Contribution to Magic in December 2014. A press release said Mr. Venu’s biggest achievement was to start a Diploma in Magic Art at the Sri Potti Sreeramulu Telugu Universityhere , making it the only university to offer a regular magic course.
