Lyricist Veturi remembered

A lifetime achievement award instituted by the Delhi Telugu Academy (DTA) in the name of legendary lyricist, the late Veturi Sundara Ramamurthy was on Tuesday presented to Telugu film director K. Vishwanath.

Honours

Along with Mr. Vishwanath, actor-writer Tanikella Bharani received the ‘Veturi Vishista Sahithi Puraskaram’ while CEO of Sri Venkateswara Bhakti Channel P. Madhusudhana Rao got the ‘Veturi Vishista Media Puraskaram’ from Minister for Information Technology Ponnala Lakshmaiah, DTA president Mohan Kanda and Information Commissioner P. Vijay Babu.

10,000 poems

Acknowledging the recognition, Mr. Vishwanath recalled how he wished to make a movie based on ‘Srikakulam Chinnadi,’ a dance drama penned by Veturi. He went on to state how Mr. Bharani, who attracted attention with ‘Midhunam’ recently, could direct the dance drama.

Mr. Vijay Babu recalled how Veturi had penned almost 10,000 songs in a career that spanned three decades.
