The Hyderabad Metro Rail has asked the L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad to speed up the piers works and also the viaduct construction between S.R. Nagar and Miyapur falling under stage two of the construction schedule on Thursday.

The concessionaire building the Metro Rail has also been advised to install more launch girders to form the viaduct on the route falling under the Corridor One between Miyapur and L.B. Nagar.

The agency has been asked to complete the piers (pillars) construction in Ameerpet near Sarathi Studios before the monsoon breaks out since the site was a water stagnation point.

Similarly, the GHMC should also be completing the storm water drain work, said Hyderabad Metro Rail Managing Director N.V.S. Reddy on Thursday. He was accompanied by senior officials of various departments like GHMC, Water Board, National Highways, R&B, CPDCL, Transco, Traffic police as well as the L&TMRH officials walked through the entire 16 km stretch from Punjagutta till Miyapur.

Their objective was to look into the traffic obstacles on the way and decide on the remedial measures to be taken up immediately for allowing traffic to move smoothly and expedite metro work. The Ambedkar junction also known as Godrej ‘Y’ junction will also be improved by reducing the kidney island to get an additional carriageway for the traffic to move.

The CPDCL and AP Transco have also been urged to speed up the shifting of the high tension overhead electrical lines at JNTU, Miyapur and IDL Dargah to facilitate L&TMRH to take up the construction of piers (pillars).

The HMR MD wanted the civic authorities to ensure the main roads are free of potholes and water stagnation points are rectified.

At a number of places on the route, many electric poles and transformers coming onto the carriageway as in Big Bazaar in Punjagutta, Sitara hotel, RS Brothers and Chowdhary mansion in Ameerpet, etc., were identified for shifting.

Road widening between Punjagutta-Ameerpet and Sanatnagar-Moosapet is to be taken up on war footing by acquitting properties. About 645 foundations, 550 pillars and 2,512 segments have been completed while the viaduct formation has been completed in 92 spans so far.

HMR CEO Mohd. Ziauddin, GHMC Additional Commissioner K. Sivaparvathi, CEM Suresh Kumar, and others were present.
