Low pressure area brings down temperature

Low pressure area on south-coastal Orissa and neighbourhood brought relief to residents of Hyderabad and surroundings from the sweltering heat for past few days, with showers reported in the early hours of Monday.

Meteorology department officials said that 0.8 mm rainfall was traced in city before 8.30 a.m. on Monday. Sky was mainly cloudy during the day. City recorded maximum temperature of 36 degree C on Monday, six degree C lesser than the previous day while the minimum temperature was 23.6 degree C. Relative humidity was 47 per cent.

A generally cloudy sky has been forecast for Tuesday. Rain or thundershowers would occur in parts of the city. Maximum and minimum temperatures would be 39 degree C and 26 degree C.

According to Met officials, rain or thundershowers would occur at many places over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana but at a few places in Rayalaseema. They forecast that heavy to very heavy rains would occur at isolated places in the districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, West Godavari, Guntur, Nalgonda, Khammam, Mahbubnagar, Warangal and Khammam.

On Monday Tirupati recorded maximum temperature of 41.2 degree C followed by Ramagundam 39.3, Nizamabad 39.1, Nellore 38.7, Kurnool, 37.6, Anantapur 37.5, Vijayawada 37.2, Visakhapatnam 35 (all in degree C).
