A 25-year-old driver was killed after the lorry he was driving rammed the railing on Outer Ring Road (ORR) and fell on the service road in Shamshabad in the early hours of Thursday.

Police said the accident occurred when the victim, Umakanth Gathe, hailing from Karnataka loaded the vehicle with mobile phone tower equipment at Basava Kalyanam in Karnataka and was going towards Ongole via Shamshabad.

The lorry cleaner, Paramesh, escaped with injuries. Police suspect the driver might have lost control after he felt drowsy in the morning and hit the railing. Police registered a case and shifted the body to Osmania General Hospital for an autopsy.

Temple burgled

Burglars struck at a temple in Bodduppal on Wednesday night and made away with hundi amount. Thieves entered Sri Ayyappa Swamy Temple by breaking open the rear window grills and stole the ‘hundi.’ The theft came to light when the temple supervisor Somaiah came in the morning and found that the temple was burgled, the police said.

Mason ends life

A 23-year-old mason committed suicide by slitting his throat with a knife at his sister’s house in Uppal on Wednesday midnight.

Police said Kurmanna of Mahabubnagar district was staying at his sister Manemma’s house for the past few months and was working as a mason at a nearby building under construction. He was in a state of depression for some time and took the drastic step when the family was asleep.

Two held for possessing weapons

Police on Thursday nabbed two persons for allegedly possessing a sword and a dagger.

The arrested have been identified as Mohammed Bin Amer Aseri (20) of Chandrayangutta and Adnan Bin Abid Aseri (20) of Babanagar in Kanchanbagh. The duo was planning to sell the weapons to some known persons at huge price at Omer Colony in Kanchanbagh when police nabbed them.
