Lokayukta inquires into sound pollution at Gudimalkapur

March 10, 2015 06:10 pm | Updated 06:10 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

The Lokayuktha has begun inquiries into the allegations of sound pollution being caused by some function halls at Gudimalkapur following a complaint lodged by Vivekananda Welfare Association of KMG Enclave.

Members of the association said on Monday that earlier they had submitted scores of representations to police officials of different levels seeking relief from the high decibel musical programmes organised at these function halls. With the police failing to rein in the managements of function halls, they approached the Lokayukta Chairman who instructed the Director of Investigations to inquire into the matter.

Four days ago, officials of the Director of Investigations visited the function halls to assess the problem and conducted detailed inquiries with their managements and local residents. They directed the function hall owners to present details of records within two days.
