Lok Adalat, an alternative dispute redressal mechanism organised across the three districts of Nalgonda, Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri and Suryapet on Sunday, saw a good response, with maximum resolutions found in thefts of electricity and related material, and out-of-court settlement of criminal cases.
The service was held on the premises of the courts, and disputes resolved in 23 civil cases, 42 motor vehicle accident claims and 54 bank recovery cases. The total litigation involved a transactional value of ₹1.17 crore, a statement released by the District Legal Services Authority said.
A maximum number of 2,076 cases of electricity theft were resolved, followed by 236 criminal cases.
Earlier in the day, Principal District & Sessions Judge D. Tirumala Rao who inaugurated the service at the District Court in the town said the ADR mechanism was a sure way to speedy resolution of disputes, ensuring justice to both parties in an amicable atmosphere.
Secretary of the DLSA K. Prabhakar Rao later informed that 25 Lok Adalat benches sat in the Sunday exercise across all the courts in the district.
