Lodha residents protest lack of parking space

May 23, 2014 12:08 am | Updated November 16, 2021 10:13 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

Residents of the high-end luxury apartment complex Lodha Casa Paradiso at Sanathnagar staged a protest against the developer Lodha Group on Thursday, for failing to provide adequate parking space as promised.

After negotiations with the management failed, residents grouped together under Casa Paradiso Owners Welfare Association and staged a demonstration, besides besieging officials of Lodha Group who were here for negotiations. The Association alleged that the builder failed to provide parking lots for many residents. Though 400 apartments were handed over by the builder, only 100 residents have reportedly occupied their respective homes so far.

“The apartments cost us a fortune. Our agreement mentions car parking among infrastructural facilities, but the builder has not provided the lots so far. We are using the existing unallotted parking space on random basis, but it is creating many problems. Meanwhile, we came to know that the builder has announced sale of second parking lot. How can he do that without first equitably allotting parking to all?” questions K. Chandrashekhar, the Joint Secretary of the Association.

Though the initial plan was only for five floors, the builder got nod for seven floors, which has resulted in space crunch, he explained. Besides, there are also issues of water shortage and provision of club house outside the premises.

“We have been closeted in negotiations with the associate vice-president of the Group Ramprakash Kona since morning. He agreed to all our demands, but towards the end of the day, he refused to sign on the minutes of the meeting. We were forced to come out in protest and gherao him,” Mr.Chandrashekhar said. Mr. Ramprakash was not available for comment.
