Despite being the fastest growing location of the city, civic amenities are poor in most places of Serilingampally

After decades of slow paced growth and remaining on the fringes of apathy, Serilingampally suddenly shot into limelight during the real estate boom. Its vast tracts of open land and proximity to the emerging IT and ITES facilities at Madhapur and Gachibowli brought the entire area into sharp focus for construction activity.

Despite being the fastest growing location of the city and the coming up of most number of housing colonies than any other in the last decade, civic amenities remain in abysmal conditions in most places. While little attention is paid to the issue of improving amenities, battles for political control however are fought bitterly by all the parties.

Apart from Serilingampally ward, other wards here include Chandanagar, Gachibowli, Hafeezpet, Hydernagar and Vivekanandanagar. Of these, Chandanagar turned sorts of high profile after Lok Satta fielded the Computer Science professor-turned-politician Katari Srinivasa Rao from here and declared him as party's Mayoral candidate. At the same time, the candidates of Congress and Telugu Desam, Srinivas Goud and P.Goud respectively, too have taken up the campaign in high spirits.

In Serilingampally division, TDP candidate Neelam Ravindra Mudiraj has come up with a hectic campaign covering Kondapur, Gopal Reddy Nagar and other localities of the constituency. Hafeezpet, where most of the areas lack amenities, too has a tough contest in the offing with all the parties fielding candidates with TDP fielding B.S.N.Yadav and Congress nominating Jagdeeswar Goud.

In Vivekanandanagar, Congress has Ramchander entangled in electoral battle with M. Ranga Rao of TDP, G.Venkateswara Rao of PRP and K.Ramakrishna of Lok Satta while Hydernagar has N.Srinivasa Rao (Congress) and M.Bhanuprasad (TDP) in the fray.
