Minister for Panchayat Raj K.T. Rama Rao, in a review meeting on Monday, asked officials to explore the scope of linking development programmes under the Rural Development Department and ‘Telangana Palle Pragathi’ scheme with ‘Streenidhi’ women’s banks.
After being briefed by officials about the objectives and functioning of the banks, he asked them to see if schemes such as ‘Kalyana Lakshmi’ may be linked with Streenidhi banks. He also asked them to introduce new schemes so that SC, ST and weaker sections are benefited.
Mr. Rao directed the officials to convene a meeting with SERP, Streenidhi Bank, and Rural Development officials to discuss extension of ‘Beema Suraksha’ insurance scheme to the women in self help groups. Officials from the bank informed him that loans to the tune of Rs.1,050 crore are aimed to be disbursed for the financial year 2015-16. Another review meeting was conducted by Minister for Housing A. Indrakaran Reddy to discuss the proposed construction of double bedroom houses for the poor. The meeting, attended by Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma, Secretary, MA&UD, M.G. Gopal and Secretary, Housing M. Dana Kishore.
