A junior college lecturer committed suicide by hanging at Avanthinagar in Sanathnagar on Friday after his friend, with whom he fell in love, spurned him, the police said.
Thirty-two-year-old Chenna Keshav, working with a corporate college in S.R. Nagar, invited his friend home on Friday afternoon where he again requested her to accept his proposal. However, she rejected his plea saying that he was already married. Keshav’s wife is apparently with her parents for delivery in Guntur.
But Keshav continued to pester her and even threatened to end his life if she did not accept his proposal. When she refused to oblige, Keshav went to his room and hung himself with a rope. On hearing some sound, the girl rushed into the room and found him hanging. She immediately brought a knife from the kitchen and cut the rope.
With the help of Keshav’s neighbours, she rushed him to NIMS where doctors declared him brought dead, said Sanathnagar Sub-Inspector T. Ramu. He said a case of suspicious death under Section 174 CrPc was registered. Keshav’s body was handed over to relatives after an autopsy at the Gandhi Hospital on Saturday.
